Aaliyah Dana Haughton was born in Brooklyn in 1979 and grew up in Detroit. Across three albums, from Age Ain't Nothing but a Number to One in a Million and Aaliyah, she helped redefine R&B, pop and hip hop, and earned the name Princess of R&B.
